Sevier County Sheriff Criminal History Records

The Sevier County Sheriff's Office sits at 137 Robinson Road in De Queen. The jail phone is (870) 642-2125. For non jail matters, call the main office at (870) 584-4252. The Sheriff runs the county jail, serves warrants, and keeps arrest reports for all bookings made inside county lines. Most Sevier County Criminal History questions start here.

The jail takes new intakes at any hour. Staff book, fingerprint, and photograph each new detainee. Bond info posts soon after a judge rules. Family members can call the jail line for a current custody check. The Sheriff also runs patrol, investigations, and school resource work. Records of past arrests can be pulled under the Arkansas FOIA law at Ark. Code § 25-19-101. Written requests go to the Sheriff's mailing address, and a response must come within three business days.

Warrant checks on a name run through the Sheriff's records desk. Bring a valid ID or send a notarized letter by mail. The Sheriff works with De Queen Police and State Police on joint investigations. If a person has an open warrant, the best move is to call the office during business hours and ask how to turn yourself in.

Sevier County Circuit Clerk Criminal History Files

The Circuit Clerk is the keeper of all criminal court files in the county. The office sits at 115 North 3rd Street, De Queen, AR 71832. The phone line is (870) 584-3055, the fax is (870) 642-8061, and the email is sccirclk@windstream.net. Office hours run 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Kathy Smith is the current Circuit Clerk.

The clerk keeps files for felony cases, juvenile cases, civil suits, and domestic relations. The clerk also acts as ex officio recorder, so deeds and liens get filed here too. Sevier County records go back to the 1830s. That is one of the longer runs of county records in the state. Sevier has been a mandatory e-file court since March 4, 2019, so new filings arrive in PDF form. Staff can look up an old paper file for you if the case is pre digital.

Sevier County Criminal History court files show charges, hearing dates, bond info, plea entries, orders, and final judgment. The clerk can certify copies on demand. Bring cash or check. Visit the Sevier County Circuit Clerk page for the full office list. For land records, the same office runs those filings as well.

Statewide Tools for Sevier County Criminal History

Most deep Sevier County Criminal History work runs through state tools, not local ones. The Arkansas State Police holds the master record of fingerprint based arrests. The Arkansas Crime Information Center posts the public sex offender registry. The Administrative Office of the Courts runs the statewide case search.

The main public tool is the ARCH public search, at $24.00 per name check. ARCH was set up under Act 1185 of 2015 at Ark. Code § 12-12-1501. It shows felony and misdemeanor convictions, open felony arrests less than three years old, and registered sex offender status. For a certified fingerprint based check, use Form ASP-122 from the state police forms page at $25.00. Mail the signed, notarized form and a self addressed stamped envelope to the state police ID Bureau.

For court records with a name based search, the Arkansas Judiciary Search ARCourts tool is free. Sevier County posts partial case info through this feed, so some case events may not show online. If you need the full paper file, call the clerk. Search fields include party name, case number, date filed, and attorney name.

For a consent based check with the subject's written permission, the CBC portal runs through the Information Network of Arkansas. State name checks run $22.00, with a $11.00 rate for volunteers. FBI fingerprint add on is $13.00. An INA account with a yearly fee is needed. State agencies and schools get the fee waived.

Sevier County Land and Public Records

Land records and lien filings often tie into a full Sevier County Criminal History trail. Mortgage fraud, tax liens, and forfeiture notices all land at the Circuit Clerk's recording desk. The county posts its land index online through a free third party portal run by the Assessor.

The image above is from the Sevier County land records site. The search lets you pull deeds, liens, and plat maps by name or book and page. For a court ordered forfeiture or a lis pendens notice tied to a criminal case, this is a quick way to check the record.

For the land index plus other public data, the county keeps a GIS page too. When a subject shows up on a criminal case file, the land and tax data can help confirm the right person. Counties run each system with its own fee schedule. Expect $15.00 for the first recorded page and $5.00 for each page after that. Certified copies of land records cost $5.00 each.

Inmate and Corrections Records

After a conviction, some Sevier County cases move to the state prison system. Use the Arkansas Department of Corrections inmate search to check current custody. The search takes an ADC number, a first or last name, sex, age, race, county, facility, or offense type. Results show intake date, a crime summary, and any known aliases.

For victim alerts on a custody change, sign up at VINELink. The service is free. Alerts go out by phone, email, or TTY when an offender moves. For a sex offender check in De Queen or the rest of Sevier County, use the Arkansas Sex Offender Registry. Search by city, county, zip code, or name.

Note: A full Sevier County Criminal History rap sheet must come from Arkansas State Police, not from the local Sheriff, so plan to use ARCH or Form ASP-122.

FOIA Requests in Sevier County

The Arkansas Freedom of Information Act at Ark. Code § 25-19-101 covers every public office in Sevier County. The Sheriff, the Circuit Clerk, and each district court must answer a records request within three working days. The law limits fees to the actual cost of copies. If the job tops $25.00, the agency can ask for pre payment. The Arkansas Attorney General's office runs a FOIA hotline and posts a full handbook online.

Some Sevier County Criminal History data stays sealed. Juvenile cases are closed under Ark. Code § 9-27-309. Open investigation files stay shut while the case is active. Sealed and expunged records drop off the public version of any court search tool. Records with minor children have dates of birth and addresses redacted. Use clear, specific language in any FOIA letter, list the date range, and give the name or case number you want.

Most De Queen and Sevier County requests get filled within the three day window. A short denial letter must give the legal reason if any part of the file is held back. You can appeal a denial by taking it to court, but most requests go through fine on the first round.
